Job details

Oakbank School are looking for a full time Science teacher on a permanent contract.

The post holder would be working in a tight knit team led by Simon Combstock. Simon is an experienced middle leader with good pastoral links within the school. Teaching would be from Year 7 to Year 11 and would cover all ability ranges. The Science department is known for its innovative approach with teaching and learning at the heart of the day to day education of students.

The post holder would be encouraged to take on a developmental role within the department such as Head of Key Stage 3/4 which would suit someone in the early years of their teaching career with ambitions of going further in curriculum leadership. Teachers of Science have their own teaching rooms that are fully functional with all the utilities to deliver Science education.

Oakbank School is a small school but with a big heart. Since joining the Anthem Trust the school has seen a marked change in its fortunes and is now known for its calm classrooms, strong focus on behaviour and well-developed teaching and learning. There are weekly staff briefings lead by the head and whole school CPD meetings as the school works hard to develop itself on a journey to outstanding. The staff body is small but highly committed and staff absence rates are incredibly low. Whilst our 2020 OFSTED report records a “require improvement” with 4 categories rated as ‘’GOOD’’ we are fully committed and on track to be securely ‘’GOOD’’ and ambitious and determined to strive for ‘’OUTSTANDING’’.

The site is well spaced out and set in a semi-rural location surrounded by farmland, there is plenty of parking on site and the village of Three Mile Cross is served by buses from central Reading, with easy access to the East and West M4 corridor via junction 11 and the A33 South to Basingstoke.

Applicants must complete the Anthem application form to be considered for the role and email this to recruitment@oakbank.anthemtrust.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday, 28th January 2022 at 9am.

Please note that we reserve the right to close the recruitment campaign earlier than this date subject to the volume of applications received. We therefore encourage candidates to submit applications as early as possible.
